Great day beautiful people! I hope you’ve started your day with a spirit of gratitude and excellence.
Lately, I've been reflecting on the concept of the pace of grace—a beautiful rhythm that aligns our lives with God’s will and timing. It’s about stepping into the flow of His guidance, not rushing ahead in our own strength or lagging behind in fear.
We live in a world that glorifies hustle. The constant push to achieve, produce, and succeed can leave us feeling exhausted, disconnected, and striving for something we can’t quite grasp. But God invites us into something different: a sustainable, purposeful pace that nourishes our spirit and keeps us aligned with His perfect plan.
The Heart of the Pace of Grace
At its core, the pace of grace means faithfully stewarding what God has placed in your hands while trusting Him for the results. It’s about walking in restful obedience—letting peace guide your steps, even when you can’t see the full picture. As Psalm 46:10 reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Here are some characteristics I’ve been meditating on:
Restful Obedience: Trusting the process, even in uncertainty.
Dependence on God: Releasing the need to do it all in my own strength.
Sustainable Rhythm: Prioritizing health—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Faithfulness Over Results: Focusing on obedience and leaving the outcomes to Him.
When I think about moving at this pace, I imagine a gentle river—steady, purposeful, and life-giving. Compare that to striving: paddling against the current, exhausting yourself for control. One is rooted in faith; the other in fear.
The Trap of Striving
Striving often stems from anxiety or pressure to meet worldly expectations. It sneaks in through overcommitment, perfectionism, and fear-based decision-making. I’ve been there—overwhelmed, burnt out, and wondering why my efforts weren’t bearing the fruit I hoped for.
Striving may feel productive for a while, but it’s unsustainable. It robs us of joy and leaves little space for God to move.
Practical Ways to Slow Down and Trust
If, like me, you’ve felt the tension between striving and grace, here are a few practical steps to help you realign:
Pray First: Invite God into every decision, big or small. Ask, “Am I doing this out of peace or pressure?”
Set Boundaries: Protect your time and energy. Build in rest through Sabbath rhythms or intentional downtime.
Celebrate Small Wins: Progress over perfection. Gratitude for each step keeps you centered.
Surrender the Timeline: Trust that God’s timing is perfect. Isaiah 40:31 says, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”
Redefine Success: Measure success by faithfulness, not results. Obedience is always the goal.
Reflection for the Journey
I’ve started asking myself these questions regularly:
Am I making decisions based on peace or pressure?
Have I invited God into my planning, or am I going solo?
Am I resting and trusting, or overextending myself?
What feels forced or rushed, and how can I surrender it to God?
These moments of self-check keep me grounded in His grace and remind me that I don’t have to strive for what God has already promised.
A Divine Invitation
Living at the pace of grace doesn’t mean the work will always be easy, but it will be fruitful. It’s what Pastor Dharius Daniels calls “sweatless victory.” We still put in the effort, but the weight of the work is carried by God’s strength.
The same God who calls us equips us, sustains us, and walks beside us. When we move at His pace, we find peace, purpose, and the joy of knowing we’re right where we’re meant to be.
Let’s trust Him with every step, and let the pace of grace carry us into the fullness of His plan.
How are you slowing down to move at God’s pace? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your reflections! 💛
Never forget you are worthy, intelligent and necessary!
With love and grace,
Precious Azurée
